In 2025, the government officially launched a taxation system called Coretax. As we know, prior to the launch of Coretax, tax administration was carried out through the DJP Online application. The Coretax system is designed to simplify tax administration for taxpayers. When using the Coretax application, taxpayers are required to activate their Coretax account and must also have an authorization code in the form of an electronic signature. Based on the Director General of Taxes Regulation Number PER -7/PJ/2025, an authorization code is a verification tool used by taxpayers to make unverified electronic signatures issued by the Directorate General of Taxes. Because fulfilling tax obligations through the coretax system requires an electronic signature, taxpayers are required to have an authorization code. Authorization codes are generally used to sign notification letters and withholding slips, as well as to validate digital transactions.
How do you get an authorization code from the Directorate General of Taxes?
The Directorate General of Taxes, as the creator of the coretax taxation system, provides the following steps that taxpayers must take to obtain an authorization code:
- Log in to Coretax account, then click the My Portal menu and select Request Authorization Code/Electronic Certificate.
- Fill in the digital certificate details and select a certificate provider.
- Enter the signer ID or create a passphrase.
- Check the statement box and submit.
- If successful, a notification will appear stating “Digital certificate successfully created.”
- Download the receipt and digital certificate issuance letter.
After taxpayers obtain the authorization code, the next step is to validate the authorization code by following these steps:
- Log in to my portal, which is my profile.
- Select the external identification number menu, then the digital certificate tab.
- Ensure that the status is VALID. If it is still INVALID, click check status.
- If successful, click the generate button.
- The DJP authority code issuance document will be published in my documents menu.
The authorization code issued by the DGT is valid for 2 years from the date of issue. Therefore, the authorization code requires an extension of validity, which can be done through the same menu at the time of submission or can be done manually at the tax office using the form attached to PER-7/PJ/2025. To prevent the authorization code from expiring, taxpayers can check the expiration date in the coretax system through the My Portal > My Profile > External Identification Number > Digital Certificate menu tab and ensure that the status is valid.
